""The death penalty is necessary because "citizens should fear our justice system"Also, as said in the Bible, an eye for an eye. If one has killed someone, then he shall be killed, too. The death penalty is necessary in the United States, and it should not be banned.""It is by exacting the highest toll for the taking of a human life that we affirm the value of that life. With the Death Penalty we affirm to criminals everywhere, that if you are willing to destroy a life, then you must be willing to forfeit yours in turn.Criminals should fear our justice system.Lawful citizens should be able to depend on it.""I believe that this should only be allowed to protect people from dangerous murderers and thieves, etc. What bothers me the most is that people want to get rid of the death penalty, which only happens to bad people, and yet the are all for abortion, which happens to babies who are not given a chance to even make one mistake and have a bed to sleep on! Inmates shouldn't have those opportunities, especially when they are there for horrific things!"
"But the Bible also says (paraphrased) "if somebody strikes you, turn the other cheek." I feel that forgiveness is more important, even though it can be extremely difficult for us as humans to do so, especially when dealing with murder. It is not for man kind to determine the value of life, the judgement should be left to God."
"Don't use the bible to support your claim. It is not substantial evidence so therefore it invalidates your claim"
"If its eye for an eye. Say you get the death penalty someone is killing someone else. So then the person doing it should die too. Whats your point? It's all going in a circle."
"You quote the Bible and yet you approve of the intentional killing of a human life. Jesus tells us to love people. Can you honestly say you'd choose for them to be killed with the love of Christ within you? I'm not saying the people on death row are saints or anything, just that they should have the chance to know God, if possible. A life sentence."
"i agree 100% with you because i think that if you do the crime you do the time"
"This is wrong the government is not meant to be feared the government is supposed to make you feel safe. also, "Repealing the death penalty will not heal these peoples' wounds; it keeps them permanently open""
"If you really read the bible it would say to forgive someone and not kill. Does killing a killer make you any different."
"Sure the bible says that but it also says "thou shall not kill." So are they really referring to humans when they talk about death to the killer."
"I believe that this is wrong, for if you are going to go by "an eye for an eye". You must realize there are many other horrific crimes. Such as rape, but if you rape somebody. You are not going to be raped because of you raping somebody. If as a country, we were fine with entirely doing an eye for an eye. I would be fine with the death penalty. But as a country, we're not, and I believe most people are more frightened by confinement than they are of death.Thank you for your time in reading this,-Joshua"
"I feel very disappointed that fact that you would accept people's death. That just makes you a monster without even knowing it."
""he shall be killed, too." What about a thief should he be stolen from too? how is that fair?"
"the bible can't necessarily come into play in a topic as such, this is just driving towards religion, it should be predominately about whether it was manslaughter or a legit murder"
"The Death Penalty, like abortion, is kind of a rough topic to discuss. For Con I say what if the person who was killed is actually innocent, and the actual criminal has long since fled the country (just an example)? How does the death penalty affect families? Relatives of the person put to death may feel the need to seek revenge for what the government did to their loved one. I'm just a student and this is just my opinion. For Pro, I say these criminals did horrible things and need to be punished for what they've done. "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth,..." But putting somebody to death for their crimes is still murder. This is a tough topic and my class and I have to debate on this subject. The sixth Commandment is "Thou shall not kill".My dad is in the Military and wholeheartedly supports the death penalty."
"The death penalty is like a crime because you are killing the person that killed also but you are not any better because you are doing the same the killer did to but the real question is why would you kill for another that's the wrong thing to do if you knew you would stop the death penalty please look in to your heart and be a person the has forgiveness please consider what I said please."
"It's not really a rough topic, it just would go against peoples opinions and beliefs. I do see how the scenario represented about the criminal escaping but if the jury finds the man guilty, even without death penalty, he'd be put in prison for life sentence. There are flaws in government as is, and yes it'd be a tragedy but the fact that someone can escape just a small crime without being detected is unsettling but if someone mass-murdered many people I'm pretty sure the only way he'd escape is by killing everyone in his path. Most people, also, have a mental problem or PTSD or something clinically wrong with them which would cause for such behavior. Since we are speaking of the majority of people who do commit heinous crimes, then the correct and justified way would be death by capitol punishment. I'm not an expert, like most of everybody commenting, but I can figure out the rights and wrongs. I hope this helped and you do well..."
"Does no one on the con side understand the difference between a murderer and a killer?! Everyone is saying "Oh if you kill the murderer than you are the murderer.". The executioner is not murdering someone when he/she does their job. The executioner is simply killing not murdering. Killing is taking ones life.Murdering is taking ones life without a lawful cause.People read what you are typing. If you're telling me that killing is wrong then I want to see what you do when an intruder breaks into your homes and threatens to hurt your family. Are you guys just going to go "Welp, killings bad yeh, so better take our lives so we can go fly to heaven and be all jolly there." Think people."
"I know right and its not like they are shooting them they are just giving them a lethal injection"
"that is a different scenario. if someone comes into your house and threatens you, and family, you can use as much force require until said threat is subdued. you are using self defense in that scenario."
"If one taketh then one givith"
""Hey, killing is wrong. But if you kill somebody, I'm going to kill you!" ~Hypocrisy, unknown (BC/AD)"
"This was very helpful information when creating a debate points for school. i thought some people had very good points."
"i am doing that right now in school!!!!!!"
"I think that we should do the Death penalty but it would depend on the crime that they did if they die or not."
"Without the death penalty, all the murderers would need a life sentence. This means that a huge quantity of American tax payers' money will go to feeding and housing the murderers their whole lifetime. Even if the murderers' can shorten their sentence and eventually get out of jail with hard work, reducing one's penalty requires time. In addition, death penalties could exist while having the criminals work to reduce their penalties. If you need food and a place to live in, kill someone! That'll provide you a whole lifetime of food and housing."
"The department of justice says it costs them more to execute then to imprison"
"We can not continue to save and pay for murders, rapist, and distroyers of the modern world"
"If one person that killed thousands is killed than you just saved possible victims of the next killing spree"
"I disagree if you kill them you are now a killer. Plus we can do the same thing by giving them a life sentence, then we don't create any more killers, and we keep the peoples of our country safe."
"The death penalty should be used more often to not only protect the lives of future victims, but to free up tax payer dollars that can be put to a better use rather than housing and feeding a remorseless, hardened criminal. Statistics show that offenders in prison will often commit a more heinous crime after they are released due to the abuse and dehumanization they are subjected to while serving their sentences. Also, our justice system does not adequately sentence criminals for the crimes they commit. Our most vulnerable members of society are our children, especially babies. For months and months of abuse, torture, and rape inflicted on these innocent souls by the very people who are meant to love and protect them, offenders will often serve less than 20 years. Some even get away with only probation. Once free, they start the cycle again. Why not nip this problem in the bud before more innocent people have to suffer the actions of selfish and cruel individuals? Perhaps crime rates will even go down once criminals are afraid of losing the only thing they care about; themselves."
"I think Death Penalty should be brought back If someone kills someone they should die SIMPLE"
"They should die because they took a life away for someone."
"but what if they didnt want to kill someone but something in them did?"
"People kills someone because they don't want to live."
"They wanted someone to die so they should get it returned."
"If we wish to make them suffer than we should just put them in a room give them a gun and make them shoot their own self. This will inflict mental pain on them and surely they will regret what they've done. That's suffering for you even if it's the last minutes of their pathetic life, it'll be more suffering than years of prison in my opinion."
"or save time and money and put 20 cents worth of lead in them yourself"
"I think that yes, the death penalty should be allowed, BUT, to an extent. The extents being-- Rape of child (18 or under)-- Genocide ( murder of more than one person)-- Murder of a child-- Kidnapping for over a year-- Torture of any kindAnd i'm not the only to agree with this even our president Donald trump agreed with this statement. "The death penalty. It should be brought back and it should be brought back strong... They say it's not a deterrent. Well, you know what, maybe it's not a deterrent but these two [men convicted of killing two police officers in Hattiesburg, MS] will not do any more killing. That's for sure." - Donald J Trump"
"Death penalty provides closure for victims and their families and it would teach other would-be criminals a lesson better sending them to jail."
"Closure is a myth and never really happens. But forgiveness is divinevitable and if you forgive you must forget, because you CAN NOT get to heaven with hate in your heart!"
""Loved ones, wrenched away from our lives by violent crime, deserve more beautiful, noble and honorable memorials than pre-meditated, state-sanctioned killings. The death penalty only creates more victims and more grieving families. By becoming that which we deplore - people who kill people - we insult the sacred memory of all our precious victims."Marietta Jaegar-Lane - mother of Susie who was kidnapped and murdered. The death penalty does not provide closure, it is instead a disservice to victims."
"If we put them in prison, they can kill cops and even escape and kill more innocent people."
"People if you want them to suffer why keep them alive in jail? Just kill them off and let them suffer in Hell."
"Living in Jail is one thousand times worse. Why let them get away with something by killing them."
"Death is too quick. They deserve to suffer until their dying days in jail."
"This is insane. How barbaric are we to let monsters prey on more victims? It is inhuman to keep monsters in cages, feeding them precious food that could be given to 'less lethal' inmates, or even better, children struggling to keep afloat above the shouting and chaos of life's demand. Are we just as guilty letting some monster live, while an innocent child, maybe even a whole family, awaits six feet underground, hoping for someone to redeem what has been done to them. As said a long time ago, "An eye for an eye." It doesn't mean that rape is answered with rape, but the same thought trails behind it. If I were to be completely honest, this practice is a bit barbaric, but it is something that would be a drain on our economy if removed from today's society. Thank you, and have a wonderful day, everyone!"
"Yes, but only for the most gruesome murders and extreme crimes."
"Many criminals have committed heinous acts of murder that are gruesome and purely awful. Taxpayers should not pay for murderers, serial killers, rapists/murderers to receive good food and excellent medical attention in a good prison to live out their days. They took away something that one's family can not get back - a son, daughter, father mother, sister, brother, friend, and that is irredeemable. The acts these criminals have committed is sickening, it wrecks my day especially when I hear of a family killed of a child killed of malnutrition by an abusive parent. Those awful and wretched people have every right to be killed!"
"Send them to D-class for the SCP."
"yes my dude"
"As a father I like it more when I see these bad men off the streets and killed. I worry everyday because I live in the inner city of Detroit where men kill men everyday. It brings tears to my eyes when I see these murderers unharmed and not punished."
"The death penalty should be neccesary because people rape and kill for no reason and still get to leave"
"The strongest argument in favor of the death penalty is that our constitution allows it, and our form of government allows citizens to determine whether or not it will be employed in the states where they live. In 31 of the 50 states, citizens have determinded that the death penalty should be available as punishment for specific crimes. Despite recent occurances where state legislatures have eliminated the death penalty, EVERY time that question has been put directly to the people, the people have indicated that they want the punishment available. Most recently, in November of 2016 the people of California voted for the FOURTH time since 1978 to have the death penalty, and the people of Nebraska voted to restore it. Media reports of a decline of public support for the death penalty do not refect the will of the people. The anti-death penalty movement is disingenuous and uses mis information, partial information and on occassion purposely skewed data in an attempt to reduce puplic support for the death penalty. The single biggest reason for a decine in executions is not a lack of public support but rather bias on the part of judges both at both the state, and federal level, who are opposed to the death penalty."
"Yes, because animal rape, inbred, drugs and so on are killing humanities genes and everything involved, it's damaging, irresponsible, no second chance, so it is in nature.. and natural it is and therefor normal.. we can't be breeding further wrong, more die from deviance than any conflicts/war/etc. plus it's causing retardation in our genes.. even weed is.. we're all gonna become extinct if we allow wrong breeders to rule us.. when it's the good, clean genes who should rule.. simple logic, not rocketscience.."
"I go both ways here."
"I personally think it depends on the reason for the murder. If it's for protection, it's understandable and the death penalty shouldn't be argued or considered. If someone is murdered out of cold blood, it's a different story. The families and friends that have lost someone dear to them because of a murder, I feel your pain and I understand what that's like. My dad was shot when I was just two years old by a gang member. Now, the actual shooter wasn't arrested, but the one who ordered the shooting was. Maybe the murderer is behind bars now for some other crime, I don't know. But I do know that the man was not put on death row. I wish more than anything that he was. He deserved the same punishment that he bestowed on someone else. My dad's death wasn't an accident, those bullets were meant for him. He wasn't shot just once either, he had multiple gunshot wounds. They really wanted him dead obviously. I miss him so much and even though I barely knew him, I do still have some memories of him so vivid it could have been yesterday instead of 14 years ago. Any of the people who haven't had a loved one murdered don't understand, they have no idea what it's like to lose someone like that. I can only hope he finally gets what he deserves."
"If someone thinks it is right to take another life through cold blood then do not deserve to live in a world where we strive to live well"
"an eye for an eye"
"I Trey think that it should be allowed because if you kill someone you should deserve to die!"
"But is Killing 2 better than 1? Simple math"
"Death penalty should be allowed! Just search of the Oklahoma bombing scene. He killed hundreds of people so it is fair we kill him. (ONE person)"
"They deserve it."
"thats a deep thought"
"You are right they should deserve It for doing crimes."
"Kasari "What if they were innocent." What if he or she was not thinking. what if that was your family member!"
"If someone committed murder then they should get it because no matter what there is no way to change someone they will be the same no matter what"
"But it sure would help."
"if someone commited murder you don't have to kill them"
"I think it is correct to kill someone who kills mostly because they will most likely do it again and it is better to prevent a killing from happening again."
"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, not if we have 2 eyes."
"Better to kill criminals instead of criminals killing more innocent people."
"People are worried about a killer, a MURDERER suffering from 10 minutes of pain. What about the victims? The people they killed? It might be "inhumane," but isn't killing people also considered inhumane? These people must have committed a heinous crime to be on the Death Row. They have raped, beaten, suffocated, strangled, drowned, people, and so much more, and people are saying it's not okay to kill them? What has become of America?"
"I'm on both sides. But I'm starting to lean towards that it should be allowed. Think of it this way:You get home from school and see your family on the ground dead. Blood is everywhere. Wouldn't you want justice for your family? Wouldn't you want the person who did this to be killed? However, there is a certain extent to it. If it's an accidental murder like a car accident, then no. The death penalty wouldn't be suitable for that incident. But, if it's a genocide, then yes. They came in with the mindset that they wanted to kill. They were fully aware they were doing it. If they were completely aware of what they were doing, then it's acceptable to kill them."
"when someone like the Golden State Killer kills someone, they should be penalized death. they're murdering innocent people. he should be hurt for every person he killed and then killed violently."
"Some of you cons are telling us that if you were wrongly accused then you'd be dead. Yes this can happen but remember without the death penalty you can still be wrongly accused and as many other of you cons have stated, in prison the justice is not only life but also isolation, rape, and maybe murder. So basically you'd rather live a long life in prison with all of these punishments that I have stated above than rather die?"
"No, "we" wouldn't rather live a long life in prison. We believe living a long life in prison would make them wish they were dead. Suffering is much worse than death, so that's why they we believe the death penalty should not be allowed."
"yes yes yes"
"is that a jojo reference"
"if people know that they will be killed for certain crimes they will not commit them if they want to live prison does not make a difference because people will just continue to commit the same crimes because they think prison is not that bad"
"if one givth then one taketh is a good statement cause it explains the meaning of the penalty which is good"
"If someone killed a person you love and the reason is that that person simply liked it, do they deserve to live? I don't think so."
"I think we should make death penalty legal for all states, but when considering using it, you have to find extended information to furthermore prove the person is guilty and it has to be hard evidence, nothing else."
"Yes, I think if you decide that you are going to kill someone and take away someone's mom or dad or sister, then you deserve to die, too."
"Many people say it's so victims/victim families can find peace. If your peace relies upon the death of another human being, then I can not agree with you, but there are cases that need this sentence. People who just want to watch the world burn, those who refuse to see the errors in their ways and would do it again. Give the sentence to those who do not care about the pain they bring about."
"You killed someone, so lets kill you."
"When people that are found guilty of killing they need to be killed the same way that they killed !!! When the court spare their life when they go to jail for the rest of there life is a waste of tax payers money that like a slap on the hand they are just taking up good space. They need to kill the people !!! If it was up to me I would kill them."
"In a hypothetical situation, a mass murderer that had been in prison for a decade was on a transport bus through his town, or section of the city where he's most familiar. A car crashes into the bus, just barely tipping it over so it rests on its side. The driver, thankfully uninjured brings the murderer out of the bus to wait for a squad car and ambulance to pick them both up, because the other cop in the bus had been knocked unconscious. A well-placed kick, and the murderer escapes. He knows the town so he heads to a friend's house. Said friend breaks the handcuffs, and lets the murderer go without a word to the police. Had there been a death penalty at the time of the trial, the murderer wouldn't be on the loose."
"For everyone that doesn't think that the death penalty is good because it kills people, well you're wrong. Is arresting someone kidnapping them? Is killing someone in war murder? You can say they are different but they are all cases in which the person would deserve the punishment. That's why the death penalty isn't murder, it is a punishment that works wonders for the U.S.A. Even though there isn't proof that the death penalty works as a deterrent, who would confess they wanted to kill someone?"
"if you kill some one you should be killed too"
"I think yes"
"it shows justice"
"Depending on the crime should determine the type of death penalty."
"Only for really bad people."
"give more evidence"
"Yes because if somebody kills another person they should experience the same thing they did to that person."
"Why would we allow a murder to live? There is no point cause if or when escapes there's going to be more targets for him"
"The death penalty is something we have to convince ourselves that killing someone is just a penalty. A penalty is something you get when you turn an assignment in late, a ticket you get when you're speeding, a penalty is temporary. But death is permanent. At first I was conflicted about which side I was on: For the death penalty or against. One reason why I was for the death penalty was because some people who commit murder might think of death as a reward and killing them instantly might be letting them off easy and it might be less unfair then letting them spend their life in prison. But if we killed someone then they could never learn their lesson that killing someone was wrong if we just killed them in the end. Another argument that people make for that side is that it is more expensive the kill someone for a couple minutes then to keep them in prison for life, but frankly I rather focus on the more humane arguments to this topic which makes me quite a hypocrite, I know, but I'm undecided so I get a pass."
"Hell yes the Death Penalty should be allowed. Those bastards kill innocent people and they're allowed to live. Hell in my opinion, they should be given death by torture."
"To a certain extent. Depending on the degree of the crime, and the amount of evidence used in the conviction. If you have absolutely proven the person to the crime, and it is to the extent of murder, or worse, then yes of course i support. As long as the jury has concreate evidence, instead of a case where a "wrong place, wrong time" instance would be a possibility, i think this would reduce the amount of innocent people being murdered via death row."
"it should be allowed because if they kill they should be killed"
"one killer killing off killers will reduce the numbers of killers in general"
"Being merciful toward your enemy is like being merciless toward your family and friends."
"Yes, especially under the Federal Death Penalty act where there is heavy burden placed on the gov to prove their case, and in the Boston Bombing case, there simply is no question to his guilt. Our prisons are filled to the rim with murders, of all degrees. But to premediate mass murder and maiming, targeting the young, families, LE and women - and anyone else in the path of bomb says to me very simply that he does not value his place in society, his own life, nor interested in living among U.S. citizens who he so brazenly targeted to kill. Those bombs could have killed many more. No empirical data arguments should be necessary or used, the only argument is justice, rule of law in society. And the idea that the DP will make him more of martyr to some fail too - who he influences are no consequence, his record is forever known in history. It's no revenge or vengeance, but consequences of ones actions. Whatever one thinks about deterrence, we should also think that there is no room, even in prison, for those that decided to destroy lives at will because he believes it will sent a political message of his beliefs. That is revenge and vengeance; the DP is consequence of such behavior, it does not have to have moral grounds."
"They are also filled with many people who are innocent they just could not prove it! It is like being between a rock and a hard place for real!"
"from my presprective , the man who have killed someone he deserve to die , because the life is not game ."
"I think that the death penalty should be allowed because if a criminal murders a victim on purpose then they deserve to have their life taken. A Life For A Life."
"I believe that this should only be allowed to protect people from dangerous murderers and thieves, etc. What bothers me the most is that people want to get rid of the death penalty, which only happens to bad people, and yet the are all for abortion, which happens to babies who are not given a chance to even make one mistake."
"I HATE ABORTION TOO!"
"It does not only happen to bad people! Many documented cases of innocent people put to death when it is too late. The worst thing is to arrest someone just because they have no alibi, because if I could predict the future I would make sure I was never home alone resting with the phone off the hook, or heaven forbid I was sleeping that automatically means I could have done. That means I can not live alone, I always have to answer the phone even if I am s ick, etc, etc, etc! Not realistic."
"Yes people should be killed for there brutal crimes they commit"
"Yes, however in my opinion, the system for its use needs to be reviewed and revised. So many death row inmates sit in prison for years and years after being sentenced to death, some pretty much serve "Life sentences" anyways. I feel that they waste just as much money as life sentence offenders anyways, therefore the execution date should be set a week after their trial, there should be no doubt this person committed the crime he was tried for, and he/she should be executed within 30-90 days of prosecution. Capital punishments are only applied to various types of murder, espionage, treason, and genocide. But I feel that serious sexual offenses should be added to this list as well. (rape and molestation of a child, serial rapists, etc.)"
"yes because they are a waste of space and money"
"I think death penalties should be put out only for the worst of crimes not because of the one death"
"If you are a murderer, the punishment is obvious! You asked for it!"
"Who would want to live with murderers?"
"People that kill other people are ruining lives and by getting rid of the bad lives will be saved."
"I believe mostly that the death penalty serves as a consequence for an action that, by law, is wrong. The law is clear that murder is wrong and if a person knows the consequence of this crime is death and still commits the act, they are foolish. A fool is one who lacks good sense or judgement. I do see the points that the con side brings up about innocence and being hypocritical. But, I feel that to call the executioners hypocrites makes you a hypocrite as well. We are all hypocrites in our own ways. For instance shaming someone for murdering a murderer is like shaming someone for lying to the devil, one who cannot physically tell the truth. I see both sides but I would have to agree with the side that the death row serves as a punishment for something that is unlawful."
"I believe that the death penalties is good. If you murder somebody you dont deserve to live."
""If someone say that, "death penalty can't deter the murderer because they would not think about the consequence they'll face" and I say "If they don't know consequence when they did the killing, they'll know after they go to the court. If someone need to think the consequence for deterring them to do killing, they might be out of humanity"."
"we should put them through a vr test where they are put into a virtual supermarket and if they don't do anything bad to anyone they there free to go and if they feel like killing someone then they should get the death penalty"
"yes because you know ;)"
"Yes, it is much cheaper than paying for the killer's needs in prison for years. It is a complete waste of money. People should simply be shot and killed, a cheap and effective way to fight crime. Expensive executions or prison sentences greatly hurt the economy."
"Yeah it is"
"It's not that easy."
"It should be used because people will be afraid of the system, like Ashlyn said. If you have a family member who has been killed, you'll want them to be punished. They should be killed for what they have done. If the person dies, then that is good for police officers at the prisons. They don't want an aggressive killer to look after including everyone else."
"The death penalty is needed because it is a necessary evil to ensure no one person will be allowed to be murdered or abused without severe punishment, such as death, for they will need to pay with their own lives, because of the damage they caused on other's lives and the destruction in their lives. This is why the death penalty should be allowed to people who have taken a life or several lives, for they must pay with their own life, even though that is not enough, unless the person has killed a mass murderer or just a murderer, for they are doing it with a good reason, a good cause. Therefore, the death penalty should be allowed in all states."
"i think the death penalty should not be brought back. And sadly that's my real name. :("
"It depends what was done. You can't just say that the death penalty should be allowed and not give the purpose."
"YES of course it should be allowed, 1st of all if it is clearly established that the murder is done by the accused there should be no defense mechanism to work for him/her and he/she must pay for his doings. Once a murderer is always a murderer there is no going back. and why people somehow starts sympathizing with the murderer and completely forgets about the victim who has actually met intentional tragedy caused by the murderer."
"When someone is murdered, a family feels mixed feelings, the most being hatred. They want revenge for what has happened to their family, and the death penalty is the perfect way to fulfill their hatred."
"killing them is a good thing they can burn in hell god can punish them because they don't deserve to live."
"the death penalty should be allowed"
"It should, because it makes criminals fear death and plead guilty in hopes of surviving."
"By replacing the death sentence with life imprisonment, the government will not only spend money on living space, but more prisons may need to be created to house more inmates."
"I agree to death prnalty because if there was death penalty ther would be less murder rape etc. in thr place the death penalty is reasonable after all we cant just let killers live because they might escape prison and kill more people and if thers death penalty we can keep the public safe"
"People's shall be killed if they kill!"
"If people should be killed ( if they kill someone), wouldn't the person who killed the killer should be killed as well since they have killed someone as well? (" People's shall be killed if they kill.")"
"Justice Stewart stated that the death penalty in this circumstance was proportionate punishment. "When a life has been taken deliberately by the offender, we cannot say that the punishment is invariably disproportionate to the crime.""
"If a person kills 1 or more people their life should be taken for killing another"
"This was written by me and I also liked it."
"People who kill other people should be heald accounted for their crime. Its just not right."
"bring back the hanging at the court house on saturdays and the crime will drop"
"If the death penalty is reinstated people will be afraid to commit crimesIt's logic ....????"
"in my opinion , it should be allowed . in the bible , GOD says LIFE FOR LIFE . I AM NOT SAYING I AM GOD AND i can kill anyone it is just complicated ."
"Yes, because who knows if they do it again, either out of spite or not, not everyone learns their lessons. Forgive but do not forget, because if you make a mistake, the blood of the person's next victims after being set free are on the government's hands."
"the death penalty should be allowed in all states"
"it is cheap as they don't need facilities in prison"
"Yes, we should have death penalties because if 1person kills another person then the killer should be killed."
"The people currently on death row have murdered more than 1,000 people, of those 229 were children, 43 were peace officers, and 294 of the victims were sexually assaulted and tortured. How would you feel if these people escaped and were back into society. Their next target may be you or someone you know."
"Yes, killing is morally wrong, but if that is the only way to save hundreds of people, then I won't complain. If we could find a better, more human way, than I'm against the Death Penalty"
"Would you be open to life without parole?"
""An eye for an eye...a tooth for a tooth." Why should we let someone so easily off the hook and pay so much in taxes to pay for someone to be fed and sheltered when he/she took a life away from someone's family. It is just immoral."
"I am a strong believer in the "Eye- for- an Eye" type mentality. If a man/ woman kills another man/ woman, then the murderer should be executed."
"The death penalty will prevent other criminals from doing bad things, because it is a prime example of what will happen to them if they continue to do their bad things."
"i think that the death penalty should be brought back because we can afford to leave killers free so to say even if they have a life sentence they will have plenty of time to feel good about what they did. if we have the death penalty then the killer will have no time to think that what he or she did was good and they won't be able to walk the streets killing more people if we don't catch them"
"i thinlk that the death penalty should be legal because we need to tell people that we mean buissness."
"Only reason anybody should be a con is if you are a religious freak or you think that innocent lives can be accused. Really only the valid reasons"
"Okay well you don't have to be religious to think that the death penalty is wrong. Don't make judgments so quickly."
"and this is a hate crime to say this about a religion"
"I believe that if someone took away the life of another or has done something very bad like a child predator you should have life taken from you because you don't deserve anything but dealth."
"Absolutely! We waste too many tax dollars on these idiots. Tax dollars should go towards good, law abiding people with morals."
"I think lives matter do you. okay imagine a serial killer killed like 20 people. And the police put them in jail and he/she escaped and killed even more people. Then the police put them back in jail. Would you want them to be punished just think what if they escaped again would you want them to be electrocuted or deathly injected or would you want them to go escape again and go kill one of your family members. YOU DECIDE"
"well i mean in today's world you have rapist running the streets and the law enforcement is more worried about drugies"
"The death penalty depends on who the person is what they did wrong"
"Absolutely right, like thosewho weren't actually responsible. for example those in cases like an armed robbery, and they were not in the area of the death. Some times the, say getaway driver, is held responsible for another stupid robber dying or killing a guard and they are held responsible and killed."
"why would anybody want the death penalty should be allowed for the prisoners?"
"Many reasons are for serial killers, and treason if they can get other people to work with the then they could become stronger and stronger and kill more people"
"The Death Penalty should be allowed for one reason and one reason is that it should the people that killed people, rob someone, broke in factories, broke in houses and gave a undercover cop drugs."
"The death penalty should be allowed because the prisoners who did crimes should get hung and who didn't crimes shouldn't get hung."
"I believe the death penalty is right, but is only long and expensive because people choose to fight a losing battle, at everyones expense. A person even considered for the death penalty, has no regard for human life, and has nothing to lose in killing again, and again. Their rights ended where their victim's began."
"I believe the death penalty should be allowed, because lets say someone has killed 15 people in one day. They should definitely be put to death after they took so many lives. Some husbands, wives, and children wont have a mom, dad, wife, or husband. Eye for and eye, tooth for a tooth."
"The death penalty serves three functions. First, for some crimes any lesser punishment is inadequate as a matter of basic justice... Second, an executed death sentence absolutely guarantees the killer will never kill again. A life sentence does not. There are many cases of people killed by murderers who were paroled, escaped, killed within prison, or who arranged murders from within the prison... Third, I believe that an effective, enforced death penalty deters some murders"
"" A life for a life" -Good trade"
"If someone commits a crime then they should face the same fate as their victim."
"Why care for someone that may be unredeemable? Just because "god" forgives us of our sins does not mean we have to forgive others. I think the death penalty would help a lot of families get closure knowing that the person who killed someone "near and dear" to their heart, is paying the price that they made that person pay. We don't have to allow lethal injections but I think hanging is the cheapest option."
"The death penalty is the only rational and moral response to some crimes"
"The CON arguments seem to miss one important point - we all die. If someone is given a life sentence, it IS a death sentence. Legal discussion gives the example of train and a lever - if you "do nothing" then the train will continue on and may kill 5 people - or no-one, but if you pull the lever, it will definitely kill one person (the prisoner). So, do you pull the lever? I think this argument is flawed - deciding not to give the death penalty is still pulling the lever - if the person is paroled, or escapes, and kills again, then those who advocated not ending the persons life should take responsibility for those deaths. Also ask this question if one of the potential 5 deaths is your child or loved one. When it becomes personal, it changes your perspective in many cases."
"I believe that death is never the answer but sometimes it has to be the out come. Most people frown upon killing someone, but it is just like playing a first person shooter game or any shooting game. Your mission is to kill someone for others to survive. The death penalty is the same thing, in order to save others we kill some. Many more people die from murders, bombers, etc. So why is taking one persons' life to save many more so wrong? You might be thinking we are no better by using the death penalty but we are. Murders kill to make chaos, death and destruction. The death penalty kills to save, protect and restore justice. Leviticus 24:21Whoever kills an animal must make restitution, but whoever kills a human being is to be put to death."
"if you keep them in jail and not kill them which means they can escape and keep committing that crime."
"There are 323 million people living in the US. A total 3000+ have been put on death row. Which is not even one percent of the US population."
"A major premise of most of the people in these comments is that killing a person makes you a murderer. However, the consequences of a code of ethics that may realistically apply to an individual cannot realistically apply to a society as a whole. In America's Constitutional Republic, we elect leaders who vote for or against the death penalty. If they vote for it, does that make them murderers? Does that make all of the people who voted for them murderers? As "Enter Clever Name" said in their comment, murdering is killing without lawful cause, killing is execution lawfully sanctioned. Some people view crime as a result of a psychological or biological factor that isn't controlled by the perpetrator, but it is more realistically generally a rational decision based off a cause/effect way of thinking. People do have a choice, they control their own actions, and if they choose to kill someone, the consequence of their action (which is determined by the society) is the repression of their autonomy and possibly death."
"The death penalty should be allowed, millions of innocent lives are lost and the criminalss donot pay a cost."
"in some cases death penalties should be allowed for big crimes such as Terrorism in other acts of big crimes"
"It gets rid of murders"
"some people deserve it"
"yes because people think they can get away with death row and keep on killing people"
"The death penalty is a good thing because if you kill someone you should be killed"
"Yes. Some people say that some innocent will be killed on accident. Wrong. If the judge isnt totally sure, he/she wont sentance them guilty, and defintly wont give them a penalty of death."
"I believe the death penalty should be brought back because if a murderer is capable of committing a murder over a innocent victim once then they would have no problem doing again."
"If one commits an offense which cannot be reversed, or reasonably compensated for, with no logical, ethical, or moral alibi; or if one commits an offense that permanently degrades any innocent or otherwise undeserving person's or persons' basic rights as a human being; then it is inarguable that the offender is not in any way beneficial to society, and has forfeit his or her claim to any of the rights bestowed upon birth. Therefore, having infringed the rights of another, the offender forfeits his or her own, and should be eliminated as would any other cancer threatening the life or rights of those deserving of those rights. The death of those who fail to understand the value of life and the rights guaranteed therein should not be an option, but a necessity."
"The death penalty definitely need to be existed to remind those criminals for what responsibility they have take after crime or even for people who intend to make a crime. This is a greater way to keep our world secure and even safer."
"The death penalty has its purpose and is not cruel and unusual punishment. There are some bad people out there who deserve the death penalty, because there is not a punishment more fitting for the crime that has been done"
"I think think that the death penalty should continue because the criminals should face their consequences of their actions. Having the death will protect a lot of innocent people. If a person commites a horrible crime. But he or she doesn't gets a death penalty they will massacre more people and then there will more deaths then killing the criminal. This is why I think death penalty should continue."
"The reason why the death penalty should be allowed is that for people who do bad crimes should die."
"Why do we risk having these people in our society? they are criminals and have to atone for their crimes. If your best friend or family member was killed by some crazed madman would you want to see him gone? I understand that killing others is wrong, but with what they have done, it would make our nation a lot safer with these people out of our lives."
"People that kill because they want to shouldn't stay alive, if they take 1 or more lives shouldn't they die. When you kill someone you're forfeiting your rights. If someone killed your Family member/Family wouldn't you want them dead? I know I would. ALSO THE BIBLE IS NOT A GOOD WAY TO SAY YOU'RE RIGHT SO STOP SAYING "The Bible Says....." NOT EVERYONE CARES WHAT IT SAYS."
"I won't disrespect the bible if you don't use it for an arguement about life or death."
"I would want them dead but just because they killed your family doesn't make it right to kill theirs. Also don't disrespect the bible okay."
"I think we should kill them for there crimes in murder, kidnapping, rape and even abuse. These people should die for there crimes. It is like a tooth for a tooth. If you take someones life. Its only fair if you lose your life."
"If we kill innocent, unborn children in this country, why should we not be able to kill those guilty of heinous crimes?"
"The bible says whom who sheds the blood of a man shall his blood be shed"
"You're wasting resources on someone who's gonna die anyway. And rot in jail. You're killing slowly rather than quickly."
""We Should give Capital Punishment to all gruesome murderers "They will not get second chance in their life because once they get trapped in this field. It is impossible to recover them.."
"I think that we should because what if they did something bad like horrible then they would just get away with it that makes no sense just to let them get away with murder"
"God will not let that happen! And that person may still end up in heaven, because we can not say they would not, not out choice!"
"criminals can test our products.Instead of killing animals people who kill people can test if things are poison."
"From research it was found that death penalty of firing squad is much less than prison because one year in prison is approximately $75,000, and one shotgun shell is about 29 cents. That is nearly 250,333 times the money!"
"It provides an adequate punishment for those that have committed one of the largest crimes, and it deters more murders from happening as much."
"Life in prison costs much more than death penalty. From research it was found that death by firing squad is much less than prison because one year in prison is approximately $75,000, and one shotgun shell is about 52 cents. That is nearly 39,000 times the money!"
"They get the right of owning up to their consequences"
"According to me death penalty is wrong for an example just imagine you are in jail for whole life time and after 5 years an evidence should take place which proves that you were innocent and you were left from jail and your precious 5 years should be gone which cannot be come on other hand you are sentenced to death penalty then what is the mean of that evidence and your death is became useless and unusual inthis way death penalty should be abolished"
"it is cheaper"
"It is in fact 3 times as expensive to kill people then to put them in jail"
"Free up the jails! If they received life w/o and no parole, take them out that day!!!"
"The death penalty is necessary because "citizens should fear our justice system"Also, as said in the Bible, an eye for an eye. If one has killed someone, then he shall be killed, too. The death penalty is necessary for the United States, and it should not be banned."It is by exacting the highest toll for the taking of a human life that we affirm the value of that life. With the Death Penalty, we affirm to criminals everywhere, that if you are willing to destroy a life, then you must be willing to forfeit yours in turn."
"if we didn't have the death penalty we would be spending more of our money to keep criminals alive. AND if someone gets a life sentence it is basically the death penalty anyways."
"It works. It deters crime."
"I think the death penalty should be allowed for the people in prison should get hung."
"It should be allowed or if someone can take someone's life and be put in prison for the rest of their life so if someone can take a life they should be able to take theirs."
"yes i agree bc the criminals should pay what they did to the victims"
"If they kill someone they want the person to die so they should die in return"
"i beliive in this"
"eye for an eye"
"I feel that there should be a death penalty because it would be better than a life sentence in prison. I mean who wants to suffer in jail for the rest of their life. You might as well just end it and save yourself from a life of suffering."
"That's why people hang themselves in prison."
"Kill the bad guys"
"killing people is a good thing. At least you'll go to heavan"
"they made crimes they wont go to heven and killing is bad"
"The death penalty has been shown with ample evidence to be an ineffective way of punishment. In fact, it has been shown that states that have insinuated the death penalty have more murders than those states who do not have the death penalty. It is the personal belief of many people that there is no such thing as "Killing for good". If it is ok to kill someone who has killed, is it ok to rape someone who has raped or abuse someone who has abused?"
"It doesn't work that way. I believe that if someone has been raped that the person convicted should be killed, not raped. It 's kind of like if someone has cancer and is going to die anyway, it is beneficial to end their life, just as it would be with a rapist or a murderer. It is beneficial to the public that this person is removed so that we won't have to worry about that criminal getting back and so that the family can have some closure."
"i agree with you the more killers that are killed the more murderers there are."
"i agree we as citizens can't live by a eye for a eye."
"'AIDAN' In all actuality sentencing someone to death actually costs more money than it does to sentence someone for life."
"and yet in prisons, people are already killing and raping killers and rapists."
"We're not murdering them like they did to the other guy we're executing them"
"Yes there is killing for good what if about the terrorist of nine eleven what if they never killed themselves and were caught let me guess that you would just sentence him to jail for 120 years while why do we have to waste resources on a human being that was created by the devil why don't we just kill him"
"i agree and it does not deter crime"
"its not ok"
"So you endorse murder and rape on the first place. Then you run after trials and cases and make 10 more peoples life miserable particularly of the victims family in order to save a murderer. Think of it"
""An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" -Gandhi"
"Yeah, because Gandhi is a credible source when it comes to quality of life. He is almost singlehandedly responsible for the massive birth defect problem of India, because he told people to use natural salt that hadn't been ionized."
"its not eye for an eye wrong"
"The death penalty should not be enforced because, what would happen if the person accused was wrongfully accused?"
"They would spend time in prison until the authorities can confirm they are guilty"
"Sometime the lie detector is wrong but we go through a longer process and they need 2 or more people to confess that he's guilty or he won't be charged at all."
"It won't be!"
"hey eye for a eye"
"but what if they werent???"
"That is possible but that is why they are all able to request to take a lie detector test. If passed then no execution just time in prison, but if failed death."
"Why must we stoop down to the level of murder to demonstrate murder is wrong?"
"We're not stooping down to their level we're preventing them from doing it again"
"because if the gov show that they don't give a crap and they will take your life cause you did something that was really bad like murder or rape if they put you to death most likely people wont do it any more or they are going to die"
"And plus it costs more to keep people in prison."
"#It takes a killer to kill a killer"
"That's insane, so you're saying that a person who has killed many innocent people is as important as an innocent person who has done no wrong? Taking the life of a murderer is not the same as someone taking the life of an innocent person. We need justice to the lives unfairly taken away from this world."
"#Ittakesacooktocook#Ittakesaleadertolead#Ittakesabuildertobuild#IttakesapedotorapeAny One can do any of these things and killer can do these things they can cook they can use their hands they're human like us but they kill this # is a bad one because not everyone is a killer. Also i'm Pro death penalty because they shouldn't live if they kill."
"Say someone commits a mass homicide, should they be given a life in prison and may end up getting out eventually, or should we just end the risk of more crime?"
"what do you mean"
"Ah, but CEJ, the government is killing them. So darling, please tell me, should we demolish the government as well?"
"If we kill somebody who has killed others, than we are no better than them. The entire point of the justice system is to prove that we are better that those who have committed the crime. Stopping down to their level makes us no better than they are, so if people start to believe that killing other humans in this way is acceptable than our justice system will soon have no meaning and our society will be reduced to chaos"
"Yeah we are because we are protecting our people."
"Death is too easy for the criminal, would you not be content with them serving a life sentence in misery? Let them rot in a cell to rethink their mistake. Killing them does not bring back the murderers victim but instead makes us the murders."
"I strongly agree. Death is easy, living is harder."
"Hey Grace i agree with you so much if you don't mind i'm using your comment on my school project i will be giving you credit"
"I hope you realize that sure that would be the ideal, to let them rot in jail but the citizens, us are paying to keep them alive and feed them, etc. Do you want to pay to keep them alive?"
"But what if instead we show that if you kill you will die too. You know tell everyone and make them not want to murder."
"Yea i feel like that is reasonable because if you just kill them your no better but if you sentence them to a live sentence then they would just end up hurting themself and its would just be on them"
"they could probably just hang themselves at jail though"
"I think it should be abolished because many innocent people could get blamed for doing something they didn't do and killed for doing that. Thank you."
"The death penalty is a quick way out. it allows the person who committed the crime to be able to leave behind their troubles. some people have committed crimes because they knew they would die quickly after. having the death penalty wouldn't scare me, it would make me fear the government because they seem to be making some pretty bad choices. with another point, there are worse things than death, everyone knows that. the fear of those things, knowing you would still live but be tortured, or some other thing, could set people straight. and the people who like to be tortured, or worse? I'll have you know that there's a weak spot in everybody."
"We are killing people who kill people to teach others that killing people is bad. Ironic . . ."
"It's called punishing. Retribution, one that fits the crime."
"No human has the right to take another human life through vengeance. A human life should be protected at all costs, no matter the mistakes they make or the sin they commit. Those families who seek closure by taking the suspect's life is unjust and must find peace and security through prayer. Don't solve sin with more sin."
"There is no solution in your "argument". Are you suggesting we let all criminals go? If not, are you saying that the worst should be put in jail for life? Isn't that a death sentence - we all die, you know."
"I agree strongly."
"The famous quote by Gandhi does speak the truth: "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." What does the death penalty accomplish? Killing may seem to deal justice, but it is not justice--it is revenge. What about the murderer? Don't you think even a small percentage of murderers could learn that killing is wrong; a small percentage could realize the fault in their ways? "To err is human; to forgive is divine," someone said. This in no way endorses such travesties against justice as murder or rape, but criminals are people; yes, they committed grave mistakes, and yes, they should be kept off the streets as long as they pose a threat to society, but killing does nothing. The law should attempt to reform, to teach, before attempting to punish. Is your "comfort" worth the heart-brokenness of the criminal's family? Is it worth denying a chance for the criminal to redeem themself or to deny a chance for yourself to exercise great compassion and forgiveness and to realize that the criminal carried great hate in their heart, and must be at least given a chance, an opportunity, to prove that they have changed? Love is a beautiful thing; the more we can integrate its beauty in our lives manifested in forgiveness, the more we live."
"Responding to Brian Nielsen part 2: Additionally, the death penalty is meant as a punishment. To say that it is a lesser cruelty than life in prison is debatable, but a lot of criminals prefer life in prison (a lot accept plea deals where they will confess as long as the death penalty is taken off the table for their punishment). If prisoners would rather die than spend their life in prison, then that is a matter of self-assisted suicide, not whether or not the death penalty should be kept, as the government forcefully taking someone's life versus you willingly taking your own are completely different. In addition, if someone is innocent of a crime, they cannot be exonerated if they are dead."
"Responding to Brian Nielsen: I in no way stated my approval of the prison system or the practice of sentencing criminals to life in prison, and, anyway, that is a different argument. I was arguing for the cease in practice of giving criminals the death penalty. I certainly am not saying this for self-justification. My argument was mainly a moral one, so it maybe came across that way. Logistically and financially, the death penalty costs more than prison and is not a significant deterrent to crime."
"Again, no answer here - you do realise that everyone dies, right? So a life in prison IS a death sentence. You are just thinking this absolves you in some way, but it is a decision that results in the death of the prisoner anyway, and provides them with years of potential torture and cruelty until death finally releases them."
"If they kill 10 people, is killing them any better. Is killing 11 better than killing 10?"
"I watched a video of a man who had the death penalty and it went wrong, causing him to suffer a burning hot feeling in his body. They then had to inject all the chemicals inside him so that he wouldn't be in anymore pain. So I believe that the death penalty should not be changed because it is cruel and if it goes wrong, the person will be in serious pain."
"Well then we should just use firing squads. China does it and they are way more successful than America. We need to stop wasting money on expensive prison sentences and drug executions."
"the point is for them to be in pain and suffer for committing such a crime"
"And you dont think the people he harmed felt pain?"
""When a woman or man is committing a crime they are not thinking "Am I going to die after this. Am I going to get caught?". Your thinking about why you are going to kill that person, whether it be he threatened me and my family or he took your lollipop. The only problem I have is that everyone wants the other person to die but what happens if or when you kill someone. Are you going to want to die? Are you going to realize that death shouldn't be the answer? Now you more than likely have an incredulous thought in your head or on your face because you don't know the feeling of absolutely knowing you are going to die. Maybe it's true some people deserve that fate. Maybe it isn't. Killing them is the simpler and easier choice. Maybe it doesn't matter that now you've stooped to their level. Maybe it doesn't matter that they're family and loved ones will never see them again. They are dead and can't kill anyone anymore. It matters that you had to purge your soul because you wanted this person no longer breathing. Isn't it just better to be empathetic because normally when your choice gets harder you start to realize it the right one? Rotting in prison is worse than death. Why not give them the gift of a nice, cozy cell forever."
"when we kill for death penalty, what would we show people? that if someone does something wrong you can just kill them?"
"Many argue that the death penalty will be the easy way out for criminals. After all, of all of the mass shootings in the United States since 1966, over half of the shooters had killed themselves in the end, most likely to avoid a lifetime in prison. If they are killing themselves to prevent a lifetime in prison, would the death penalty be granting them release from prison, and therefore, be the same as them killing themselves? I feel as if this isn't a very popular argument for the cons of the death penalty, which is a shame because it is a very strong argument, I believe. Would it not be a more harsh punishment for them to spend their lives in prison?"
"It shouldn't because many bad people should pay for their actions."
"what if they were innocent and you are killing them which is the reason why they are there in the first place"
"Then that's like sentencing someone to prison for life that is innocent; it happens either way."
"I feel that, given evidence or not, the wrongful execution rate is up to 4.1%. Taking the risk of killing an innocent person's life is dangerous, and outrageous. It does not make sense to fight fire with fire because that has never gotten anyone anywhere. As of the other 96.99%, I feel that execution is far fetched and less of a punishment towards the murderer, and more to their loved ones, as they don't get to truly face the consequence, They should definitely rot in death row."
"The death penalty is not the most severe punishment- life in prison is more severe. ProCon.org states that "States without the death penalty have fared better in reducing their murder rates then states with the death penalty." This means that convicts seem more afraid of life in prison then of dying. Moreover, this shows that the death penalty is not the most severe punishment. All in all this suggests that the death penalty has very little effect to none. This confirms that the death penalty is an easy way out for criminals as opposed to life in prison. Furthermore, Is the death penalty really just sabotaging the chance of reducing the crime rate?"
"The death penalty should not be allowed it is unnecessary."
"The death penalty is wrong! The government should not have the right to just take a life, and if they take the life of an innocent person and not the person who commited the crime, its just wrong. Have you ever thought about if your husband or wife or sister or brother or child or aunt or uncle or a grandparent got acused of a crime they did not do yet they got put on death row for it, and you the other day had voted yes for death row and your vote won the argument, how would you feel then that you had lead your family member to death?"
"killin is not cheap it costs a life"
"How are we supposed to end killing by killing the killers?"
"I believe death penalty shouldn't be allow because death penalty is unjustifed because there are people are that innconent that are sitting in the death row."
"From 1973 to 2004 there were a recorded 7,482 executions out of all of those only 117 have been found innocent thats only around 1.6 percent, an augment is that those 117 should not have died and thats good enough reason to let them all live. First of all what should we do instead then just sent them all to jail, with my estimations quite a few of them would not be in for life and would probably later be released and do the same thing that got them in jail."
"If you do a little research you will find the death penalty helps less than you think. There is the fact that it doesn't lower crime rate. The penalty actually increases it. When you execute someone you also run the risk of executing the innocent. Additionally, taxpayers pay an extra $5 to keep the prisoners in death row. It cost less for life in prison. In conclusion the death penalty is unnecessary and inhumane."
"It isn't a deterrant and it doesn't actually save money. On averate it costs more to execute someone (after appeals etc) than it does to imprison them for life."
"If they are in prison for life then they have to physically pay with how they spend the rest of their life, if they are just dead they are just dead, that's it, they are gone debt has been paid. but that is just it, it hasn't, they may be gone they may be off the streets but they also in my eyes got off too easy. I feel that we should lock them up throw away the key and then throw away the cell. they deserve to be gone forever but not by death."
"someone could be framed for murder and die because of it"
"The only problem I see is how there have been a lot of innocent people being let out of prison but if they are dead there is no bringing them back."
"Killing a person who has murdered someone will get you no where."
"If an innocent person is wrongly convicted and executed, then the state has not killed a criminal but has in fact murdered somebody. If murderers should be killed, then the state should be executed for this murder. Where do we draw the line?"
"let say what if the person they killed was the wrong person. after the death new evidence comes to life and shows that another person did it. how will they explain to the family that they killed the wrong person. and now they have to kill the real person. it happens a lot. and you cant bring back that person from the dead. all the family get is an "I'm sorry" from the government. what good does that do. you might have token someone dad or mother. they took someone's son/daughter. and you cant bring them back."
"I'm confused on which side to be on, but if people are going to be Christians and quote the Bible, then you should know that people who have common sense would learn to forgive. They must have had some reason. Or it might have been a joke. But that doesn't ever mean that you have to take another life for it. I swear, soon enough, the human species will end itself. Good day to you."
"I kill you and another person. Should I be executed for it? Yes I should be cause you're taking away our right. Also yes the Human Species will end itself we're literally doing in right now on this very day."
"Why do we kill people who kill people in order to teach others that killing people is wrong?"
"your name is amazing."
""If you kill a killer, the amount of killers stay the same""
"Only kill them if you know they committed the crime, or else you could be killing an innocent"
"people call themselves a justice worker when they work for the gov. doing this. are you really one if you kill someone who has killed or done wrong? whould you really be a savior theem? think about it really!!"
"I think it shouldn't be allowed, due to the fact that they don't need to get out of it and die/be killed. They just need to rot in jail for a very long time, or even for the rest of their life. The End"
"what if they didnt want to kill someone but something in them did. you basically killed someone that didnt want to kill anyone but did it anyway"
"So it is like having a bad demon on one shoulder and an angel on the other and I like how you said that"
"There is no "killing for good." Human lives are human lives no matter who it is or what they've done. All humans are born the same and shaped by their life and what they've gone through. Yeah, people mess up a lot, some worse than others, but they do not deserve to die. Taking their life makes us just as bad as the murderers; it makes us murderers."
"Considering mental illness most commonly occurs due to genetic inheritance, I disagree that 'all humans are born the same'. By that logic, all humans have the capability to consciously make their own choices, regardless of the detriments they have endured throughout their life."
"why do we have to kill people exactly? We have lost enough lives in this world and wars in the US may be coming in the future, so why kill each other when there are other possibilities that CAN."
"The death penalty has been and remains one of society's most controversial issues"
"Death is a bad thing."
"So is killing"
"but what if the offender is released after prison and kills a mass amount of people? Not to mention that everyone dies anyway and modern forms of death penalty are painless like lethal injection. I can argue both ways tbh"
"give more reasons and evidence on why death is a bad thing"
"To be honest, some crimes would make me so angry to not see justice taken account for. There is however, the option of leaving them in jail. Most people say that they will not spend tax money on criminals, and I understand that, but one thing. doesn't killing the killer make killers out of us all? According to the government's logic, killers should be killed. Then, since we have voted to kill the killer, we should all be killed for our crime. Not only that, but with the death penalty, aren't you giving the government power that they need not hold? They now have power to kill people. I believe the Death Penalty should be banned immediately."
"But the Government isn't running around, killing innocents left and right. They only put people to death who have done heinous acts such as murder. You are also allowed many appeals, so if you are innocent you have multiple chances to prove it."
"Who am I to judge who lives and dies? The main people who are put on Death Row are murderers and by me putting the person on Death Row I am no better than the person being tried."
"How? You aren't the one killing someone, you are just saying if they committed the crime or not, and only if you get chosen to be on the jury. You are not responsible for their death if you sentence them to life in prison and they get shanked, so why is this different?"
"You guys keep on saying that instead of risking your life for death take them to jail. What makes jail any better. There's still people who spent 10-20 years in jail and still come out the same. Why are you fighting for people who keep on doing wrong when you give them a chance?"
"the people that kill the murders.... Does that make them murders to? Because they are the ones doing the real killing."
"If you are killing a murderer, you're just as bad as they are. They are people too, many are just having problems in their minds. How could you live with yourself if you know you killed someone."
"I hate the fact that people get killed after they kill someone, that is just super missed up."
"how is that messed up?"
"The death penalty is great! Just ignore all the people we've executed on false charges."
"A life sentence is great! Just ignore the murders left to rot and drown in their mental illness' while someone is murdered in cold-blood. :)"
"killing someone does not fix your problems."
"Umm yes it does thats why murder and rape crimes went down significantly once the death penalty was instituted back in 1973...."
"someone is salty here in the comments well i dont think they should be killed for something they didnt want to do what if they couldnt control themselves and they needed help with therapist"
"The death penalty goes against our most basic human right - the right to lifeBeing killed by lethal injection or being electrocuted is not always smooth and painless, sometimes it causes a painful deathNo-one has ever proven with numbers that killing murderers stops other people committing similar crimesMistakes are sometimes made in the law - what if someone is killed who is actually innocent?"
"also in order for a successful lethal injection, doctors are needed. if they do anything to help, as much as check if victim is dead, they are going against the hypocrates oath"
"OK, so we lock someone up for a lifetime (which IS a death sentence) and they get cancer and die in excruciating pain because, according to your argument, we cannot administer a lethal injection to ease their suffering. Nasty..."
"For the bible thumping crowd, I thought a big teaching in the word of Christianity was that only God can pass final judgement, I think if God was the entity you claimed him to be so fervently, all human life, yours included would not be in his favor in the slightest and every last human soul on this planet deserves the fate a certain group of humans decide for another human who decided the fate of another human. Its a vicious chain of judgement upon judgement. 1 person decided another person should die for any reason, insane or meticulously planned and thought out, and another person in a certain position decides that person should die because of it. My point is there is a huge life/death/morality hypocrisy that exists in our advanced brains that creates debates like this one and causes a huge humanity defining rift in our species that makes us live tormenting and artificial lives when nature should be allowed to lead us the way it was might to from the beginning before humans gained the ability to develop sensations of greed, power and other unnecessary and unnatural complex thought patterns. The only thing that separates us from most animals is our ability to speak and create complex creations with our hands don't forget that"
"You got on here to share your views on Christianity, and say that nature should lead the way. Lead the way for what? If someone is a serial killer, what do you think their consequence should be?"
"death penalty should not be allowed"
"I believe that one who has a consequence to face should have to face them alive rather than escaping them through the death penalty."
"I strongly agree, think of yourself bieng in a life or death situation. if it were me, I would love to live instead of being put to death"
"if a murderer is murdered, are you not the murderer of a murderer?"
"I agree with some of the con. I think we should have a lengthier Process so we know they're fully guilty. Lets not remove it fully and just make it hard to get on."
"I believe it shouldn't be allowed... They should suffer life in prison, like the families they ruined have to suffer."
"Killing someone for killing is the dumbest thing i ever herd... Answer me this... if i were to be accused of murder but i was innocent and they didnt know that and i was put to death then found out i was innocent i would have died for no reason right?"
"thats why before the death penalty is carried out they wait about 15 years to research your case seconed you mustve did something bc to even put yourself in that situation"
"my sisters and I was molested a few years back and he got put to death it kinda ticks me off because he didn't really have to pay he just died i wish he had life in jail but its to late now i was to yong to say any thing... P.S. there should not be a death penalty at all."
"But couldn't you say that you feel security that that man won't harm anyone ever again?"
"It goes against my religion. As a Jew, I hate the death sentence."
"Why would you be ticked off that he got put to death!! what if he was alive and they let him out of prison and you got molested again because he didn't change than that will be bad for you again"
"its sad that the internet is that screwed over in the head sometimes that there is hate over someone saying their religion goes against the death penalty, you shouldnt say "oh i feel like being a loser like almost every other day and im going to go hate on someone" the person who wrote this comment that im commenting on has a good reason to oppose the death penalty wile the people who are pros have no good reason besides money and greed"
"You can not be for something & also be against it.You can not kill someone for killing someone. We would be no better than they are. When murders kill a person they do it because they think what they're doing is right in their mind. Just like when we sentence a person to the death penalty we do it because we think its the right thing to do. The problem is we don't always understand our actions.Besides if we really want someone to suffer, we let them rot in prison. Death is an easy way out.If your worried about prisoner escapes, the percentage has dropped more than half in the past decade. In Florida there were 10 escapes last year, 9 of which were caught. In the U.S roughly 2% of prisoners escape each year."
"I think since I think there's no God then we should kill them."
"If someone steals my dollar and I steal it back, am I wrong?"
"Jesus publicly thwarted an execution when he told the people that if they were sinless they could throw the first stone. If you claim to be a Christian and a follower of the Bible, then you have to be against the death penalty because Jesus himself was!"
"If the death penalty was never there than how would Jesus die for our sins??"
"hypocrite. Separate church and state. your argument is not valid! too bad neither one of us are Jesus!"
"Separate church and state. Your argument is not valid."
"The Bible shouldn't ever be used to state something. Look up Kennedy V. Louisiana then maybe you'll see why the Death Penalty is good. Kennedy is a Monster"
"the bible states an eye for an eye, and thou shall not kill, and frankly is confusing so i don't think religion is a solid argument for this"
"Too bad neither one of us are Jesus! A man recently brutally raped, beat and murdered an innocent 6 month old baby girl! Your saying that he is innocent in God's eyes and he deserves to live? The bible also says that you shall not kill. If the tables were turned, you "christian" hypocrites would have a lot to say as long as the criminal is put down. Right? Right! People like you always have something to say when it doesn't even involve you and you try to pull the lord and your religious affiliations into the argument. SWEETHEART, everyone knows that when it comes to arguments like these, church and state are always separated!!!! Stop pulling the religion card and present some actual evidence to support your argument!"
"The death penalty shouldn't be allowed because many people who get on death row, sit their for years living on tax payer money while the victim being tax payers pay for it."
"Well if you simply allow them to live their life in prison then they will be sitting their with food, water and shelter, living off of taxpayers money as well. You would be protecting the people who murdered those who actually needed protecting."
"You shouldn't be killing criminals because they took they someone's life away if you take that criminals life away you a murder too and only god decides when it's time to go not you. You will rot in hell with that criminal if you don't ask god for forgiveness."
"If we kill we are as bad as they are."
"Doki Doki be my friend :)"
"you tell them BELUGA"
"Killing people is a bad idea. Even though they do so,etching bad, helping them out will be a way better alternative."
"Why should we be the deciders of someones life? Why take them out of the world when there is still so much to improve? Force them to earn their way back into society and make the world a better place. Its hard to justify killers being killed rapists being raped and thieves being stolen from."
"When you kill a murderer, then you're giving them a privilege. You should let them stay in prison and repent on what they have done. Actaeon saw Artemis bathing, and remember what she did? She was going to shoot him, but, since her arrows are as painless as moonbeams, she turned him into a stag and let his own hounds rip him to shreds."
"What privilege we're taking their life. That's the best privilege any ones has. Also I don't know if that is a bible thing but don't use that"
"there shouldnt be one cause..its not like it going to bring your family member back whats the piont! Another thing what if your family member were sitting on death row how would you feel?"
"How would you feel if your family member was murdered and the murderer got to live out their life given food, water and shelter, while your family member gets nothing?"
"You right. Man I never thought about it like that"
"No it should be allowed because just finishing the person off will give them what they want if the get sent to prison for live they will just have to suffer and its better for them to suffer than just to kill them and give them what they want."
"I don't think that the death penalty should be allowed because if someone was to get the death penalty then they will have to died and they will have either have to stand in front of people and have blood coming out of your head/mouth and/or your whole body."
"Out of 7,482 death sentences from 1973-2004, 117 inmates were exonerated. It probably doesn't seem like a lot, but if it were you or someone very close to you, it would matter."
"Can you also tally the number of innocent victims and what if one of them were close to you? Also, this is 2018 - do you not think technology has advanced to reduce errors? Why would those old data be still valid?"
"if you are killing some you are killing your self but if you get a death penalty for killing some that is bad because people make mistakes and people got to under stand that yes you killed someone but your going to spend a boring time in prison for that that's like getting revenge your getting them back there spinding a boring time in prison eating nasty food maybe presidents want that but killing people for killing a other person is wrong"
"So if your country is being invaded, do you think it wrong to retaliate against the people in the invader's country? If not, then you contradict "killing people for killing a other person is wrong""
"if you kill someone than you should get a death penalty because you took someones life so you get your life taken"
"We are all under a death penalty, in case you hadn't noticed. It's just a question of when and how."
"The death penalty is a disadvantage for America and should be banned or many innocent, helpless people will die in brutal, painful, and inhumane forms of death and punishment."
"I think no, the murders have loved ones and families.the death penalty is also expensive, in 1987, the penalty costs 4 billion. sometimes the death plenty can kill innocent people."
"death penalty is dumb you are no better then them"
"Why must we kill the killers? A life sentence is more severe, and isn't our government built on giving people their God-given rights: LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?"
"If you think about it that person took that Persons LIFE, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness by killing them. So yes we should kill them"
"Death is a cowardly way to punish a murder. Harsher punishments may prove suitable fit the crime better."
"He killed a guy. If you take life yours should be taken"
"No cause if we do then we are basically killers as well so we shouldn't"
"I think that the death penalty should just be removed in general because you're no better for murdering them"
"The death penalty is killing our population"
"How is it killing our population? Our current population is around 7 billion. Let's say every year 10,000 people are put to death. In 10 years that's 100,000 people. That's still not even 1% of the population of the US. The death penalty gives families closure, knowing murderers aren't ever going to see another day, another woman, another sunrise. The death penalty helps lower murder rates and crime."
"true but the planet is overpopulated anyway so that is not the problem"
"I am personally against the death penalty. It's stupid and immoral! The government should not be allowed to take away human life, no matter how stupid the crime is."
"well its not for stupid crimes, its for crimes of mass murder of worse and to ensure that it does not happen again"
"more people would want to die rather than go so that is worse than death."
"its as bad as them"
"It takes a killer to kill someone"
"Unless the person they are killing is a killer then it's justice."
"humans have rights. of of those is the right to live. if we bring back the death penalty, aren't we denying a human being their right to live?of course they have done bad things. they took someones life and decided for them to live or die, but personally, i don't think our government should do the same thing. the death of someone should never be in someone else's hand! people think that prison is not cruel enough, but the whole part of prison is to make prisoners think about what they have done, and sometimes, our thoughts can be a lot scarier than any other penalty.the death penalty doesn't only affect the murdere's, it affects their loved ones, family, close friends,..., and the death penalty has killed so many innocent people.my opinion is probably never going to change because i simply think that is is wrong."
"Yes, but the fact is that most of the people the death penalty will affect, they have already unfairly taken the lives of one or many people. This is just justice, " an eye for an eye". Would you opinion change if someone you know is murdered, and that man isn't killed for his actions? Yes, it would. There is evidence that most people whose loved one(s) was killed, accidentally or on purpose, wants justice."
"A person is a person no matter what crimes they commit. We all have a life so we shouldn't takes theirs. Also who ever flips the switch to kill them is really also a murderer. We should think if God would be happy with this choice."
"If its manslaughter (Accidental murder) then, a man/ woman is being executed for killing someone on accident. That is a hole in the death sentence"
"@bo3 he is talking about like running someone over with a car but you aren't sentenced to death for manslaughter. Only first-degree murder and rape, for most cases. Honestly I swear nobody on the con side has any idea what they are talking about. All the posts are "Killing is bad" and "It's not fair"."
"Ummm... I'm very confused. How do you kill someone on accident? Your not just gonna walk into a street and have a weapon with you then you suddenly fall and then they get stabbed or shot. ummm"
"No they shouldn't be bring back becaus what if someone killed someone just let them Live a life sentence in prison that's why I would say no because just let them live a worse life in prison then killing them by a death penalty but that means that the prison is responsible for the death but no don't bring back the death penalty in the United States of America ???????? that is why I am saying no and what if you had a family member that had to die for something or would you rather have them just live n prison till they die but still that's no good."
"Just a little proof that the death penalty does not deter crime, Vermont has the lowest rate of violent crime in the U.S and they have abolished the death penalty. Texas has the fifteenth highest violent crimes rate, and they are the largest users of the death penalty"
"Vermont also has literally 2.37% the population of Texas(as of 2013, according to the US Census Bureau). More people = more crime. The death penalty isn't going to stop every single criminal. The majority of people imprisoned are not put to death. More people are killed in prison by prisoners than by the death sentence. So there is a good chance they will die either way."
"the death penalty is pretty much like saying " you killed someone so we will kill you" it makes no sense because you're killing someone who murdered someone else, so basically saying you murdered someone so we will murder you..."
"If just go and kill the jail bird for killing a person they should not be put to death because they wont have to suffer the pain of jail."
"How is jail painful??? They sit there in a nice bed with good food and have recreational time. There is nothing they can suffer from except for other inmates killing them, but then they could have just used the death penalty instead."
"if someone you loved was killed then you would know the pain and would not want there brothers and/or sisters to go through the same thing you are"
"You can not have the death penalty. Sure, it costs less than life sentence, but it is very inhumane. Back in the 1800's, we used to hang people, and I think that might be even more humane than injecting them with a death liquid."
"How is hanging more humane? With hanging you have to stay there, slowly suffocating. With lethal injection, you are given anesthetics, and a muscle paralysis. The only reason death sentence costs more is because they have to pay for the appeal cases."
"death penatly costs more than a lifetime scentence"
"Nothing trump says should be legal"
"I don't think serial killers like Ted Bundy took the death penalty to heart when committing his heinous acts. I don't think any true psychopathic person would stop and think twice about murdering a child because they could face a death sentence if caught, if that were the case, every state that still did it probably wouldn't have to anymore. It doesn't work, it is final, even after some accused and convicted death roll inmates have been proven to be in fact innocent after their final sentence has been carried out. For the religious what does that mean for the people who had a hand in a innocent person's death? It's final and absolute, i don't get how people can believe in end all be all, nothing after death or reincarnation can approve it when to me it seems like a escape from punishment. Death frees a person in many ways. Whether or not you believe in a after life doesn't change the crime and absolute final end in the punishment. I dead man can't repent for his terrible act against a child, he is free from the guilt he may have to live with and hatred directed at him and his existence. Death is peace and I don't think monsters that murder children deserves the gift of leaving this terrible world and escaping real punishment."
"I see what you're say but I would rather have a dead serial killer then one that could escape."
"You seem to think that "death is too good" for the worst criminals - but psychopaths, by their very nature, are not going to be repentant - they might actually like prison! One option would be to remove their sight and send them out after a long prison sentence, to see how they rate being the victim."
"death penalty should not be allowed because the thing is you got look at yourself and make the world a better place"
"that is subjective, and doesn't make sense, you make the world a better place"
"the death penalty shouldn't be allowed because killing someone is still killing someone so you sexually assault someone then you get sexually assaulted??!! NO!"
"Killing people is wrong no matter how you put it. Two wrongs never make a right. If you kill a killer, aren't you now a murderer yourself?"
"Citizens convicted with murder should not face the death penalty. The people convicted want us to kill them because it is taking the easy way out. Instead we should let them suffer for their actions by letting them sit in jail for the rest of their lives."
"No, We dont have the right to judge the importance of other people's lives. So the death penalty should not be allowed"
"So if America can justify it for a crime it deems worthy, who are they to condemn it in other countries that deem it worthy for other crimes/offenses.I have also long believed that until we know why the Timothy McVeigh's do what they do, we will never be able to prevent it, if at all possible.. QC. Canada"
"we should not kill anyone for treason trust me i was here"
"I go both ways"
"I just want Killers and Rapists to live a long life in prison where they can't tell a fart from a yawn."
"It will be a chain of killers. Because the person that killed the killer is going to be a killer and then another person has to kill the killer that killed the killer and then another person has to kill the killer that killed the killer that killed the killer that killed the killer and so on. So ya"
"Usually the executor will not be killed as the execution was legal."
"That is the best explanation I have ever heard. No joke."
"The death penalty should not be allowed because it causes death sometimes towards innocent people."
"I believe the death penalty is against what God's command is to all of us as humans. If someone does you wrong be the better person and don't kill them but rather sentence them to a lifetime in jail"
"God's not real.(My thoughts)use something else other than just saying God(God knows all). He doesn't know all."
"I think the death penalty should not be allowed because every human evil or not has a right to live on and see what they can accomplish in the rest of their life time, And if someone is so evil that they need to be put down, and the prison system can not help them, then i think America should get a better prison system"
"If America were to upgrade their system, this would need money, meaning increase of tax. All of this mean one thing, and that is you have to pay for monsters that don't deserve any of it."
"having a death penalty is taking away peoples al the right. It is too strict to just take their life. we should give the second chance than. so the can be a active member of the society again. also there is other ways like rehabilitation.."
"In my opinion the death penalty should not be allowed because imagine all the love ones people lose because of the death penalty. Also i know they did bad stuff to get the death penalty but it is better to keep them locked up in jail instead of killing them because they don't deserve it. Also imagine your son or yourself having to be in death penalty what would you do??"
"you do not have the right to take a life from someone who is like you!!"
"They are not anything like innocent people. Innocents didn't kill someone like they did, did they? If they were like us they wouldn't do something so cruel and to undeserving people!"
"The killer is NOT like me. They are sick minded and murder and rape people."
"It's should illegal because it's wasting live.I don't think it shouldn't be the police or judges decision it should be the parents or the prisoners should choose"
"Wasting a life?! They chose to waste their life when they pulled that trigger at an innocent life. Also prisoners should get to choose if they want to die or not? No. It's a punishment and punishments are not their choices. And the murderers parents should decide? They don't get to decide if their dumb child gets to live for the actions they have done. They shouldn't even want him to live either. They should just mourn for what he has done and deal with the consequences."
"Death is not good, yet we still kill. We do not care about other lives, let them all suffer, give them all the your biggest punishments, the death penalty is one of the punishments that is not even that big, as it is common. Murderers get punished, as it is what they deserve"
"If you kill a killer there are the same number of killers in the world"
"Why would you kill them, instead put people in prison because they wont get anything from killing them. They would learn from their mistake by dealing with the consequences."
"Instead of ending the life of a person. Is it possible to change someone's life for the better. If you don't treat them like a bad person and they might end up doing good."
"I did the math it cost 308 million per death pentalty and it only cost $700k so keep someone is jail for their whole life."
"what about lawsuites genuis"
"Actually the lethal injection used to euthanize someone is $86.08 per shot. Should've done the research not the math."
"it is 1.28 mill and 700k not 308 mill"
"no it should not be allowed because why are they killing them maybe they did one thing wrong but what if they did nothing and they still get killed its not right"
"I'm pro death penalty, but I definitely see both sides of the argument. What if the wrong man/woman was put to death? This is tough, because it isn't like you can just bring 'em back to life, like how you could get someone out of jail when you find the correct criminal. Once they're dead, they're dead, and there is nothing you can do about it."
"If I killed someone then I would be killedDoes that mean that they are bringing back an eye for an eye?Because I am pretty sure that made the whole world blindSurely the executor (who killed the person who killed) should be killed but then the person who killed the person who killed the person who killed should be killed"
"That is not true at all. I don't know about you but I don't want my hard earned money going towards some murderer's lunch money. Everyone in this country is given a clean slate at birth and it is up to them what they do with their life."
"I picked con because a lot of innocent people have been killed from it"
"killers and rapists are killed like if they are nothing when victims survive and have to remember everything."
"so what? if i got raped i or somebody i knew and loved was raped or killed, i would personally kill the person that did it. But i wont, because thats illegal. But the death penalty can help those who suffer feel better knowing there is no way in hell that the person who did whatever they did to them could ever escape."
"that is wrong to leave rapists to die really fast while there victims suffer."
"it is not a good right to get rapists roam freely !!!!!!!"
"The death penalty is too quick and people then don't have time to think what they did wrong. Also, jail is a lot worse than the death penalty because the death penalty just ends your life there. I think killing people for your job is very bad."
"Many people are put to death every day. The people who put these criminals to death are still killing, so technically they should be put to death too, and then the person who put the other person to death is killing someone on purpose and, therefore, should also be put to death. Its a chain reaction, and not a good one. See what I'm saying?"
"I don't think the death penalty is a bad way to punish people for their wrongs. Yes, the death penalty is a way to kill bad people. My opinion on the death penalty is only okay to use it if they bombed or killed over 5 people. I know it's most likely weird to read. I know that it's bad that is someone kills less than 5 people then they should not be killed. I know it's bad to say that their lives don't matter but they do. I just feel that if it's more than one family in pain then, they need to have peace. I want to thank you for teaching me more about the death penalty. Thanks and I can't wait to learn more."
"4% of those executed are innocent. It may seem insignificant as a percentage, but these are REAL people. Even they're not innocent, they still shouldn't be executed because they're still humans with the ability to feel. "Killing is wrong, so we're now gonna kill you for killing another person!" It doesn't make sense. People can also change and truly regret their actions too, ppl."
"The question is "is it alright to kill a humen being?" the answer is "NO" that would make us bad as they are we might as well use death penalty on ourselfs...if we use it it on them"
"Humans have rights. One of those rights is the right to live. If we bring back the death penalty, aren't we denying a human being their right to live and rehabilitate? Of course some criminals are unable to rehabilitate, but that doesn't mean we deny them the right to live and breathe. They're human beings, they are one of us. No matter what they've done, they are one of us! We should stick together. Also, quite frankly, killing the killers is giving them the easy way out. People think prison is not a cruel enough place, but the whole point of prison is (if not rehabilitate) to make the prisoners think about what they've done. Our thoughts can be a LOT scarier than facing death. Death is the easy way out. Don't let it be an option. Ban the death penalty!"
"As much as I dont agree with the death penalty "Humans have right. One of those rights to live" Is not right. They lost there right by committing the crime that they did. They do have the right to sit in jail though."
"Yeah, I agree, and I also believe that prison is much too expensive, and a prison sentence is making the government suffer."
"No Because The Death Penalty Is A Easy Way Out Of Hell Or Prison. If There Was A Death Penalty They Should Make It More Painful And Slower Death For The Person, I Mean If They Were A Rapist Or A Murderer Than They Can Be Tourtured But This Is Just My Opinion That Does Not Mean That This Could Actually Happen But Still There Is My Opinion."
"That is called cruel and unusual punishment and it goes against our constitution, and it should be gone because that is what the death penalty is"
"There would have to be an exicushener and would he be deemed unholy for what they do."
"That's called a firing squad. You give 1 the bullet and no one knows who killed the person."
"It would be hard for there to be a death penalty for pitiful crimes like tagging a building what if it is a young kid will he not have the chance to turn his life around."
"this should not be allowed like i understand going to jail for a while but killing someone are you serious ?"
"Would you be any better if you killed someone? Oh and also what if they been framed? What if someone always gets away with some the INNOCENT person who was killed MILLIONS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE WILL DIE. Also the people who do the death penaltys will have death wishes on them and the death penalty penalty people will be killed and and more people will die and then some people will be accidentally killed then again MILLIONS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE WILL DIE.So next time you think about saying you agree with death penaltys just think about this"
"The death penalty should be ceased because any religious person should know that you can go to hell by killing someone."
"Yeah who said god was even real at all."
"You make a good point but not all religions are the same."
"Just because they killed doesn't give us the right to do the same"
"So who gave them the right to kill on the 1st place. Please do explain!!"
"No, It depends on the seriousness of the crimeIt doesn't matter what they do, you don't kill a person for any reason. if you kill a murderer, the number of murderers in the world remains unchanged. Sure an "eye for an eye" might seem pleasurable, but what does that say about our society That we are no better than the criminals themselvesIt's unreasonable to take the life of a human being in such a manner You shouldn't kill someone because of their crime it's just wrongs it's like you're the killer it wouldn't be acceptable even if they blew up entire planets but seriously who does that anywaydon't kill them all, bad guys could change but some good guys can't change If you were to kill a criminal because they murdered someone else, the you are no better than them."
"the death penalty is unconstitutional and not ok no mater what you did people should not kill or tourture you it is inhumane and cruel"
"I agree with this side 1,000,000,000,000,000%!!!!"
"No. We see other people killing people and think it is the worst thing ever! When we ourselves are guilty of the same crime with the death penalty."
"Therese the difference between the two though. The criminal did the crime bringing it upon themselves to be punished as the government kills them to make sure they never do anything like that again and intimidate other criminals. So one is for a better purpose in the community."
"it's not in our power to kill someone just because they killed someone if they kill someone they have no fear of dying themselves so all the better to let them rot in jail till they die"
"Actually some do."
"If you murder someone for MURDERING someone then WHAT does that make YOU???"
"the person killing the murderer is not a murderer they are just doing their job."
"it makes you a avenger"
"The justice system."
"The death penalty gives the government the right to kill people"
"Actually give the Executioner the right to kill people the Government(Judge and Accusers) just sentences them"
"Freedom the will to do what you wish if you decide to do something that bad then they deserve to be punished but us as americans don't have the right to take someone's life especially for the price of another's."
"Why give a criminal the luxury of death when they should be punished. They aren't suffering the consequences when the Government decides to kill them off."
